SONG FOR THE DEAF EAR
A film poem reflecting on the insanity of war and political violence in Lebanon. Returning to his country of origin, the filmmaker revisits the murder of his neighbors decades earlier, constructing a narrative around a man shot dead on the streets of Beirut during the civil war.
Throughout the film, fragments of the man’s final moments recur: bleeding on the pavement, caught in the collapse of the world surrounding him. The work concludes with home movie footage captured the summer before his death—a simple day spent sailing with his family and fiancée, setting the quiet intimacy of life against the sudden horror of loss.
